Powa to the community

Without the world class software package and support from the team at Powa we would not have been able implement such an ambitious project. We’ve taken a national approach to online sales for 100 retailers simultaneously. The retailers have everything they need to be up and selling effectively in a matter of weeks
with one to one attention to make the very best of this opportunity. This continues to be a real team approach and the sales figures are already impressive. We’re now on track for a bumper Christmas in the Isle of Man.

Adrian Moore - Isle of Man DED

A comprehensive program to support local independent retailers online. Organizations and governments who share a common interest with Powa to stimulate local communities sponsor and distribute Powa subscriptions.
Local Powa combines world class eCommerce technology with the investment required to promote and support local enterprise. The program not only generates new customers online, but also significantly increases in-store footfall for participating retailers.
The program is inclusive of local Web Designers, highlighting added value services available through the Powa developer program. Local retailers can choose either to set up sites themselves, or be assisted by local web service providers with build and creative requirements.

Local Powa in action – Isle of Man

The Isle of Man recognized the importance of supporting local business to acquire revenue share from the growth in online sales.
Working with Powa, the Isle of Man Department for Economic Development (IOM DED) produced ShopIOM – a local shopping portal showcasing local retailers. To support individual merchant’s online presence, the IOM DED sponsored Powa subscriptions over a 2 year period for participating retailers.
The program has delivered an estimated £500,000+ in local retail sales and a confirmed £120,000+ in exports from IOM based businesses to the UK and beyond. The new websites within the program have had more than 150,000 visitors in the first year and in the run up to Christmas 2009 over 10% of the adult population on the island visited the shopping directory.
